Kalima Tribal Bellydance Classes
NEW YEAR, NEW YOU
An introduction to the Alexander Technique offered by Missy Barnes
Where: Looking Glass Artist Collective, 405 North Lee Street, Salisbury NC
When: Monday, January 12 from 7:30-9:00 pm
What: The Alexander Technique, developed by F.M Alexander (1869-1955), aims to re-educate the body into moving more easily - relearning the natural grace with which each of us is born.
Why: The Alexander Technique is a simple and practical method for reducing unnecessary tension. Sitting, standing, using a computer, participating in athletics and performing all become easier when one is free from excess effort. Alexander Technique teachers use a combination of verbal instructions and light guiding touch to help students regain freedom of motion.
Who: Everyone! People often seek the benefits of the technique in response to general tension and stress challenges (tight neck and shoulders, nervousness in social situations) or specific pain issues (back problems, carpal tunnel syndrome, knee problems). Musicians, actors, dancers, and athletes also study the Alexander Technique to enhance their performance skills.
There will be no fee for this introductory workshop - attendees are invited to make a donation toward the acquisition of the new LGAC sign.
